More Than Our Story

Kieren O'Hanlon

Kieren candidly opens up about the health challenges he has been dealt, and how he is still perfecting the balance of being a loving husband and father and his well-being.

Highlights

My liver packed up, my kidneys had packed up, and basically my body was starved of so much oxygen that there was a possibility, if I was to come through, that there was going to be severe complications.

When you've got a loving wife, you've got a beautiful daughter, you've got an amazing support network, you just dig deep.

I know that there's a lot of people out there that are feeling the way that you and I do, and I think if I can give them any advice, it's to talk to people that you can trust and just seek help.

Rather than sitting back and feeling sorry for yourself, you've just got to keep going.

You just have to enjoy life, do the things that make you happy.

I'm thinking, how can I be having a heart attack when I'm sitting here talking to you?

That's what gets me up every day, knowing that I've got an amazing family, I've got a fantastic network of friends.

It's this stigma about blokes not talking, blokes being trying to be too manly... I think if I had done things a bit differently, I definitely would have spoken to somebody at the time.

He experienced a seizure while on a Zoom call at work in late 2020 and quite literally, his life changed within minutes.
