Inspiration

Forget the clown’s chicken nuggets; here’s an ultra-fast, kid-friendly, healthy version of the beloved snack for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra-lean ground turkey (you can also use chicken)
  • 1 large sweet potato, peeled and grated (you can also break it down in a food processor)
  • Flavored breadcrumbs

BREADCRUMBS:
Breadcrumbs are essential for binding the ingredients together and for making these nuggets crispy! Don’t have flavored breadcrumbs? No worries. You can easily make your own by adding any store-bought flavoring to plain breadcrumbs, trying our Jamaican Jerk or Kicking Cajun recipes, or using any combination of chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt and pepper.

JAMAICAN JERK SEASONING:
KICKING CAJUN SEASONING:

Preparations

  1. Peel and grate your sweet potato.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl, then shape into nugget-sized patties.
  3. Cook in your air fryer for about 13-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, for perfectly crispy, oil-free nuggets!
  4. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces or between two buns as a slider.

Tips

  • You can also make them in the oven, but they’ll take almost twice as long and won’t be as crispy.
  • If you’re meal prepping for the week, these will keep in a sealed, airtight container in your fridge for 4 to 5 days. You can reheat them in the microwave or oven, but for the crispiest results, use your air fryer for 3–5 minutes!
